RoadHawk HD Video Quality

Ultra High Video Quality – RoadHawk HD has a high end 1080p video processor and high quality CMOS sensor making this the market leader in forward facing cameras. This chipset is capable of 720p / 60 frames per second, or 1080p / 30 frames per second. Video files are MP4 and can be played back in full on any modern computer.

RoadHawk HD Low Light Performance

Low Light Performance – The HD uses the best low light CMOS sensor on the market by Aptina. This sensor provides excellent colour reproduction and sharp day time images and unrivalled low light ability. Every sensor is time tested and guaranteed against dead pixels.

RoadHawk HD Digital Stabilisation

Digital Image stabilisation – the RoadHawk HD is the first in car accident camera with full EIS (electronic image stabilisation) to give you the smoothest video even on the roughest road conditions. The 3D gyro gives G-Force data which locks a video file if the camera detects an impact.

RoadHawk HD GPS

Precision GPS engine – RoadHawk HD dash cam uses a 5hz GPS module making the RoadHawk HD 5 x more accurate than most competitors (who use only 1hz). This provides faster GPS lock on times with much smoother positioning of the vehicle using Google maps.

RoadHawk HD Compact

Compact neat design – Designed on customer feedback this unit tucks behind your rear view mirror and is barely viewable from your driving position. The unit comes with high quality 3M adhesive pad and enough cabling is provided to route the power to your accessory socket. We can come to you and install this neatly and professionally, we are mobile and nationwide and cover the whole UK.

SDXC Compatible with High Capacity SD Card – Using the latest SDXC technology, the RoadHawk HD camera is compatible with the latest range of high capacity cards. Tested with 64gb and 128gb SDXC cards. The cameras uses from 2gb to 6gb of data per hour depending on video quality settings.

RoadHawk HD Mac

UK Designed Software – The RoadHawk software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and OSX for MAC. The videos can also be streamed back using QuickTime, VLC, or Windows Media Player. The standard video files can be edited by just about any video editing software available today.

RoadHawk HD Lockable Bracket

Lockable Solution (optional) – to meet transport for London (TfL) regulations you have an optional extra lockable cage for the RoadHawk HD accident camera.

The lockable cage has a key so you can only remove the SD card if you use the key provided. The locking cage also secures the power cable so this also cannot be removed from the camera making the unit tamper proof.

Hard wire Kit –RoadHawk HD Dash Cam
We offer two options on the hardwire kit, a simple, fused female cigarette socket adapter. This is installed out of site with all wiring hidden and is safely wired behind the dash.

The second option is the official RoadHawk hard wire kit. This is 5m in length and has an in line fuse. It has a filter box which reduces interference to and from the camera and this box will cut power to the camera should the vehicle’s voltage drop, which reduces the chances of flattening your battery. This kit connects directly to a 12v supply or to a circuit on the ignition.

Video Guide for RoadHawk HD and RoadHawk HD Software
(Also applies to RoadHawk DC-2 Camera)

RoadHawk HD Software is both PC and MAC compatible. This app is designed to be as easy to use as possible.
It will auto update your camera for you and more features will continue to be added by RoadHawk at regular intervals.

RoadHawk HD Camera Player

When you run the RoadHawk software it will look for the SD card from the RoadHawk HD camera. If the SD card is blank, the software will NOT see the SD Card.
You MUST use the SD card in the camera BEFORE using this software.

Once you insert the SD card from the camera in to your computer it will list all the video files on that card on the right hand side of the screen.
A USB card reader is supplied with the RoadHawk HD camera.

Just above the list of files you will see three buttons. EVENT, NORMAL and ALL.

RoadHawk HD Camera File Filter
File Filter

EVENT: will list only the files that have been created by the camera because of an EVENT.
This could be a collision, a pothole or a manual event created by pressing the E button on the camera.
NORMAL: Will display only NORMAL video files created by the camera, this should be your normal everyday driving.
Depending on the size of the SD card you are using and also depending on the quality settings, you should expect to see your most recent journeys here.
ALL: This will display all files on the card in the order they were created.
Please note that the earliest files will normally be EVENT files as these stay on the card longer than NORMAL video files.

At this point, you might be seeing a video recorded several days or weeks ago at the top of the list. Towards the bottom of the list you will start to see your normal everyday driving videos. It is normal to have gaps in these files because of the way the camera overwrites the earliest files recorded.

RoadHawk HD Camera Map

Below the list of video files you will see the MAP. This will show the location of the vehicle at the time the video was recorded. If the camera was not receiving a GPS signal at the time of recording or if your computer does not have an internet connection then you might not see the MAP.
Within the MAP screen you can use the buttons in the top left to navigate around the MAP and to zoom in or zoom out.

RoadHawk HD Camera G-Force Sensor
G-Force Sensor

Below the main windows is a G-Force Meter display. The small spot in the centre of this meter represents the G-Force experienced by the camera at the time the video was recorded.
As the vehicle accelerates you would expect to see the spot move towards the bottom of the meter. Braking will show up as the spot moving upwards on the meter. Cornering will send the spot left or right. The more heavy the manoeuvre, the further the spot will travel on the graph.

RoadHawk HD Camera Vehicle Speed
Vehicle Speed

Just below the main video window is the speed of the vehicle shown be default in MPH. Clicking here will change the display to KPH and vice versa.
